Device Setup

Below is related information and resources for email setup on wireless devices.

An additional option for Midco® Business cable TV subscribers is to locate the Tech Tips folder in the ON Demand main menu.

If you are unable to configure a device or if it is not listed below, please look through other phones for software with similar screens to your phone and, if it is not found, contact your device provider or manufacturer for additional support.

Automatic Setup

  1. Go to ios.midco.net on your device.
  2. Enter the following information on the setup page.
    • Email Address: Full email address
    • Full Name: Name people will see the email coming from
    • Password: Email address password
  3. Tap Request Configuration.
  4. On the Install Profile screen, tap Install.
  5. On the Install Profile popup, tap Install Now.
  6. On the Profile Installed screen, tap Done.
  7. Open the Mail icon from the home screen to check your email.
Manual Setup

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. From the Accounts section, tap Add Account.
  4. Choose Other.
  5. Tap Add Mail Account.
  6. On the New Account screen, enter the following information.
    • Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Description: Optional description of email account
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Tap POP.
  9. In the Incoming Mail Server section, enter the following information.
    • Host Name: popa.midco.net
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  10. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, enter the following information.
    • Host Name: smtpa.midco.net
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  11. Tap Save.
  12. From the Accounts screen, tap the email account you added.
  13. Tap Advanced.
  14. Under Outgoing Mail Server, choose SMTP.
  15. Under Primary Server, tap smtpa.midco.net.
  16. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, confirm/enter the following information:
    • Host name: smtpa.midco.net
    • User Name: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Use SSL: ON
    • Authentication: Password
    • Server Port: 25 (or 465)
  17. Tap Done.
  18. Choose email account description (in the upper left corner).
  19. Tap Advanced.
  20. In the Deleted Messages section, confirm the following information:
    • Remove: After one week
  21. In the Incoming Settings section, confirm/enter the following information:
    • Use SSL: ON
    • Authentication: Password
    • Delete from server: Never
    • Server Port: 995
  22. Press the Home button to return to the home screen.
  23. Tap Mail to access your email inbox.

  1. From the Home screen, choose the Apps icon (located at bottom edge of screen).
  2. Tap Email.
  3. Enter the following:
    • Email Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email Address Password
  4. Select Next.
  5. Tap POP3.
  6. Enter the following:
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Server: popa.midco.net
    • Port: 995
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
    • Delete Email From Server: When I delete from Inbox
    • Authentication Type (if presented): Auto
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Enter the following:
    • SMTP server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Port: 465
    • Security Type: STARTTLS
    • Require Sign In: Checked
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  9. Tap Next.
  10. Under Inbox Checking Frequency, select options for preferences on new email.
  11. Tap Next.
  12. Enter an account name and outgoing name displayed on emails sent.
  13. Tap Finish.

  1. Swipe left to get to the App list.
  2. Select Settings, then Email + Accounts.
  3. Select Add an account, and choose Other account.
  4. Type your full email address in the email address box.
  5. In the password box, enter your password. Your password will either be your account number or your custom created password.
  6. Select Sign in.
  7. Select Advanced. If the Advanced button doesn't appear, and your phone attempts to find the settings and fails, select Try again. It will fail to find the settings again, but the Advanced button will appear.
  8. Select Internet email account and enter the following information:
    • Account name: Name for account
    • Your name: Name that will show on emails sent
    • Incoming email server popa.midco.net
    • Port: 995 (some phone auto-populate this information)
    • Account Type: POP3
    • User name: Full email address
    • Password: Account number or customer created password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Port: 25 (Some phones auto-populate this information)
    • Outgoing server requires authentication: checked
    • Use the same user name and password for sending an email: checked
  9. Select Advanced settings and check the boxes for Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email.
  10. Choose Sign in.

  1. Connect your computer to your Midco Business internet service.
  2. From the desktop, click on the Mail app, which looks like a stamp.
  3. On the Welcome to Mail screen, enter your full name, email address and email password.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. On the incoming mail server screen, enter the following information.
    • Account type: POP
    • Description: (optional) what you want to name your account
    • Incoming Mail Server: popa.midco.net
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: email password
  6. Click Continue.
  7. On the Outgoing Mail Server screen, enter the following information.
    • Description: (optional) what you want to name your account
    • Ougoing Mail Server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Make sure Use only this server is checked.
    • Make sure Use Authentication is checked.
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: this should autopopulate with the password
  8. Click Continue.
  9. On the Account Summary screen, make sure Take Account Online is checked.
  10. Click Create.

Mozilla Thunderbird Auto Setup
  1. Connect your computer to Midco Business internet service.
  2. Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
  3. Click Create A New Account.
  4. Click Skip This And Use My Existing Email.
  5. On the Mail Account Setup window, enter the following information.
    • Your Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Remember Password: Checked
  6. Click Continue.

Your email is now set up and can be accessed through the inbox option on the left hand menu.

Mozilla Thunderbird Manual Setup
  1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
  2. Click Create A New Account.
  3. Click Skip This And Use My Existing Email.
  4. On the Mail Account Setup window, enter the following information.
    • Your Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Remember Password: Checked
  5. Click Continue.
  6. On the Mail Account Setup window, enter the following information.
    • Incoming: POP3
    • Incoming Server Hostname: popa.midco.net
    • Incoming Port: 995
    • Incoming SSL: SSL/TLS
    • Incoming Authentication: Normal Password
    • Outgoing: SMTP
    • Outgoing Server Hostname: smtpa.midco.net
    • Outgoing Port: 587
    • Outgoing SSL: STARTTLS
    • Outgoing Authentication: Normal Password
    • Username: Full email address
  7. Click Done.

Your email is now set up and can be accessed through the inbox option on the left hand menu.

Outlook 2010 & 2013 Auto Setup
  1. Connect your device to your Midco Business internet service.
  2. Open Outlook.
  3. Click the File tab, and then select Info.
  4. Click .Add Account.
  5. Enter the following information,
    • Your Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Email Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Retype Password: Email address password
  6. Click Next.
  7. Auto setup configuration will complete the email setup process. When it's done, click Finish.
Outlook 2010 & 2013 Manual Setup
  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Click the File tab, and then Info.
  3. Click Add Account.
  4. On the Auto Account Setup window, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Confirm Internet Email is selected
  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Internet Email Settings window, enter the following information.
    • Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Account Type: POP3
    • Incoming Mail Server: pop.midco.net
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.midco.net
    • User Name: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Remember Password: Checked
    • Do not check Require Logon Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Finish on this page.

  1. Select the Windows button in lower left corner of screen and choose All Apps.
  2. Scroll down and select Mail. The first time setup wizard appears.
  3. Select Add Account to open the mail application.
  4. Choose the Settings icon (gear icon in lower left corner).
  5. Select Accounts on right side.
  6. Choose Add Account.
  7. Scroll down and select Advanced Setup.
  8. Select Internet Mail.
  9. Enter the following information.
    • Account Name: Name to identify email account
    • Your Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Incoming Mail Server: popa.midco.net
    • Account Type: POP3
    • User Name: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Email Server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Outgoing Server Requires Authentication: Checked
    • Use the Same User Name and Password for Sending Email: Checked
    • Require SSL For Incoming Mail: Checked
    • Require SSL For Outgoing Email: Checked
  10. Select Sign In.
  11. Select Done.
