Call Park
What is a parked call?
The call park enables you to put a call on hold while you’re using one telephone, and then continue the conversation from any other telephone set.
There is a monthly fee for call parking.
How to park a call
To park a call:
- Lift the handset to your touch-tone phone.
- Press the preprogrammed button or a special sequence of buttons. Your current telephone conversation is placed on hold immediately as it is temporarily transferred to or “parked” on an unused extension number, which displays on the telephone system.
How to retrieve a parked call
To retrieve a parked call:
- Lift the handset of a second touch-tone phone.
- Press the button indicating a call is on hold on the temporarily assigned extension number.
When would I use the call park feature?
The call park feature is helpful for directing a phone call to the appropriate person in scenarios such as these:
- A caller calls your business for you. One of your employees answers the phone, parks the call, and uses your public address or paging system to let you know about the call. You pick up the call on the specified hold extension and continue the conversation from any phone within your business.
- You’re in the middle of a phone conversation in a public area of your business, but need to continue the call in an area that’s more private or is closer to other business functions. You can park the call, move to the other office or location within your business, and pick up the phone again to continue your conversation.
