Router Tech & Troubleshooting
- If you're a business customer with cable modem internet from Midco, we provide the wireless or standard modem to you for a minimal monthly leasing fee.
- If you're a business customer with fixed wireless internet from Midco, we install a fixed wireless antenna that points to Midco fiber on a tall structure that includes an antenna and Midco fiber. You would purchase your own router to connect to the antenna and deliver wired or Wi-Fi internet to your business.
If you have questions about a router model or need to know if your existing router might work with our technology, we recommend that you contact us before you make a purchase. Please direct any other router questions to your business’ IT specialist or team, or your router manufacturer.
Router Technology
An aging router may not be able to support the speeds you’re expecting with your business internet package. Also, based on our extensive experience, we’ve seen that certain router models perform better with specific Midco-provided modems. If you have questions about a router model, you can contact us. Otherwise, you can direct any other router questions to your business’ IT specialist or team, or your router manufacturer.
Router Reboot
If you have a separate third-party router, you may need to also power cycle that equipment.
- Unplug power cable from the back of the router.
- After 30 seconds, plug in the router.
Once power is restored, wait up to five minutes for the third-party router to come back online. Test the connection again by attempting to access a public website, such as Midco.com/Business.
If you require additional assistance, reference your router’s user manual or contact the manufacturer.
