Ringing Options

You can choose to ring your phone in a variety of ways when you receive a call:

  • Just ring your account phone (default setting)
  • Ring to your phone and others in a specified order – You can configure multiple destinations to ring in turn, simultaneously or a combination of the two.
  • Ring multiple phones at the same time
  • Forward an incoming call to another phone or voicemail – if your line is busy or there’s not an answer in a specified period of time

You can also set up a distinctive ring for certain calls on a predefined list.

  • On the Home dashboard under Phone Status, go to the section “Incoming calls will,” and select Ring your Account Phone. (This is the default setting.)
  • Click Apply to save your changes.

This feature is called Sequential Ring and is available if your business and account phone have Business Call Manager activated.

  1. On the Home dashboard under Phone Status, go to the section “Incoming calls will,” and select Ring your phones in order.
  2. Click Add phones here.
  3. On the Select Forwarding Number window, enter a saved number and click Add – or enter a temporary number. Click OK.
    1. Click + if you’d like to add more numbers to the sequence.
    2. Repeat step 3 for each number you’d like to add.
  4. After you’ve finished adding all numbers to the sequence, review the number table. Set ringing periods (in number of seconds).
    • Click the cells to the right of each number to add a ringing period.
    • Each table will add more ringing columns as the order grows – to a maximum of six columns. Each phone number can have ringing periods at one or more columns.
    • To edit a ringing period, use the ringing length handle that appears when you hover over a time period. Alternatively, you can double-click on a ringing period cell, and then edit the number of seconds you’d like the phone to ring before it goes to the next phone in the sequence.
    • In the ringing period cell, you have the options to check a box for Allow remote call forwarding. This option is disabled by default. If you select this box, you will allow call forwarding services from the number you’ve chosen to ring. For instance, if one of your numbers is set to forward incoming calls, the forwarding will take place – and the call will no longer ring any of the other lines in the sequence table.
    • To delete a ringing period, double-click on a ringing period cell, and click the trash can icon.
    • To delete a number from your sequence, hover over that number cell in the table and click the light blue trash can icon to the right of that number.
  5. Click Apply to save your changes.

The next time you receive an incoming call, the call will ring to your phone and others based on the order and timing you established.

This feature is called Simultaneous Ring and is available if your business and account phone have Business Call manager activated.

  1. On the Home dashboard under Phone Status, go to the section “Incoming calls will,” and select Ring your phones together.
  2. Under your Account Phone number, click + to add numbers.
  3. On the Select Forwarding Number window, enter a saved number and click Add – or enter a temporary number. Click OK. Repeat this for each number you’d like to add.
  4. Click Apply to save your changes.

The next time you receive an incoming call, your phone and others on this list will ring all at the same time until someone answers.

Your phone can sound a distinctive ring for certain calls using a predefined list of phone numbers you choose. When you receive a call from a phone number not on your priority list, the normal ring will sound.

Note: Only certain models of desk phones support this feature. Only calls ringing your account phone will be affected. If the caller appears on the Forward Selected or Reject Selected lists – or you have Do Not Disturb enabled – this setting will not apply.

  1. On the Home dashboard under Advanced Settings, click Distinctive Ringtone. The following message will display: “Callers from the distinctive ringing list will ring with a different ringtone.”
  2. Click the distinctive ringing list link to create your screening list.
  3. On the Distinctive Ringtone Screening List window, choose List, Contacts or Extensions. Locate and select the numbers you’d like to add to your list. Click OK.
  4. Click Apply to save your changes.
