Business Fiber Internet FAQ

What do upload and download speeds mean?

Upload speed is how fast your internet connection can send information from your computer to another device or server on the internet. Sending emails, supporting virtual desktop solutions and video conferencing are all examples of activities that upload data.

Download speed is how fast your internet connection can transfer data from a server to you. Downloading files, supporting cloud-based services and listening to music on Spotify while you work are all activities that require data downloading.

What does Mbps or Gbps stand for?

Mbps stands for megabits of data per second. It's a measurement of internet bandwidth. The higher the number of Mbps in your internet plan, the faster your online activity should be. And if you have gigabit internet, we're talking about Gbps or gigabits per second. One Gbps is equal to 1,000 Mbps.

Does Midco have data caps?

No, we won't cap your data. You can enjoy unlimited data at the speeds in your package.

Do I need to lease or purchase any equipment?

Yes, Midco Business Internet requires a modem - which can be leased from Midco or purchased individually.

Note: A DOCSIS 3.1 modem is required for Midco Internet. To learn more, view our list of approved modems

Can I self-install Midco Business Internet?

A trained Midco Business service technician is required onsite to install all equipment - and ensure all services are working properly. From running wires and setting up modems to testing connectivity, our tech team is highly trained to guarantee that your services are working at peak performance.

Is there a charge for installation?

Yes. There is a one-time installation fee, which you will see on your first month's statement.

What contract lengths are available?

We have month-to-month pricing and offer discounted rates for 24-, 36- and 60-month contracts. We also have seasonal business plans, so you can maintain a standard contract length, but pause your service at any time for only $5/month.
