A Holistic Approach to Wellness – And Connectivity
Proximal50 Life Center is more than just a gym – it’s a total wellness facility. The modern steel and glass building on Bismarck’s busy Divide Avenue houses a clinic, physical therapy facilities, nutritional services – and yes, treadmills, weights and elliptical machines behind its curved brick façade.
Owner Tana Trotter attests that the fitness industry is incredibly competitive. Gym members expect cutting-edge exercise equipment, class offerings that reflect current trends, and of course, always-available internet and cable TV. Trotter worked with a local Midco Business sales representative to create a package that includes these services, plus business phone and advertising.
“The connectivity of our Wi-Fi and our phone services is very important,” she said. “The Wi-Fi is huge for our customers, because staying entertained by music, TV – everything – helps you to stay in the gym. It creates one less excuse to stay home. Knowing that you're going to have reliable Wi-Fi to get to your music, maybe watch Netflix on the cardio machines – or just to watch videos or talk to other people is huge for us.”
In most cases, connectivity is an entertainment option for members, but for the Proximal Pulse program, internet access is essential. Participants connect to a Bluetooth® heart monitor and then engage in a variety of circuit activities. Their heart rate and burned calories display on a large screen, so they know when to push a little harder, and when to cool down.

“The customer service experience that I've gotten through Midco has been great. I always feel like they're supporting me.”

Trotter is a longtime residential Midco customer, and she admits that her perception of the company has shifted since becoming a business customer.
“I realized then that there are people here in our community – who are part of our community – who are here to help us. I'm not calling and talking to someone far away,” Trotter said. “There are people just down the street who are able to come and help me, and now I have faces to names – and I'm able to really have that partnership with them.”
She adds that as the sole owner of a growing company, having a full suite of services from one telecommunications provider is convenient.
“Especially throughout the building process and adding on a new location, having one contact person really saved so much difficulty. It also really helped with communicating about getting services in, and then making sure they worked. If there was any troubleshooting, it was really easy to get that all done. Now, as we continue to maintain our services, to know that it's all funneled through one company and we're not having to make three or four phone calls has really been a saver for us.”

The confidence that Proximal50’s Midco services will keep her staff and clients connected allows Trotter to focus on her business goals.
“The customer service experience that I've gotten through Midco has been great,” she said. “I always feel like they're supporting me. Whether it's something directly tied to them or it's just my business growing, I really feel like they think if I'm growing, they're growing. That's a really good feeling to have. Being the only owner of this company, sometimes it can get lonely, so to know that they're there growing with you is super nice.”
