New Fargo Data Center Delivers on Infrastructure and Continuity

When you listen to your customers and invest in the things they tell you they need, your company can do some amazing and radical things.

Trusting this core philosophy has guided Midco since its inception – when we first started providing entertainment in movie theatres in the 1930s, through the decades with phone, TV and now to today – as we own and operate one of the most reliable, robust internet networks in the Midwest.

However, as our customers continue to drive requirements for more bandwidth and less latency, we knew we needed to grow to meet and exceed their expanding expectations. That’s when Midco decided data storage was the next logical step, and where we could literally lay a solid foundation for bringing value to our business customers by putting them closer to the network.

Now, just a few short years later, we’ve opened our fourth – and arguably most sophisticated – data center in Fargo, ND. The new data center provides enhanced reliability with its superior facility design, while reinforcing our dedication to customers’ needs.

Top-of-the-Line Site Infrastructure

The Fargo data center is located on four acres of land, currently measuring at 16,000 functional square feet with room to expand to 28,000 square feet in the future. The center is flood-averse, with sloped sides all around the elevated facility. Plus, we didn’t forget about the prairie winds. This facility has an EF3 Rated Shell with the ability to withstand 150 mph sustained wind speeds.

Built to Tier III specifications, the Fargo data center has an additional redundant delivery path for power and cooling – giving it what’s called a “concurrent maintainability site infrastructure.” Essentially, that means every component needed to support the processing environment can be shut down and maintained without impacting system operations.

And here are a few more features I think are worthy of mentioning:

  • Maintained Security: All entrances are maintained with mantraps and 24/7 security authentication.
  • Data Center Inner Ring: Protected data halls surround critical equipment at the center.
  • Carrier Neutral: A meet-me room provides a direct connection to the Midco Network and other carriers.
  • Energy Efficient: The ability to “free-cool” the facility helps reduce our energy footprint.

Business Continuity You Can Rely On

We know that business peace of mind is important, which is why we’re invested in keeping your critical infrastructure secure and always connected. We’ve created a dual-path power system in the Fargo facility, with isolated A and B electrical systems.

Did I mention that the data center is also monitored 24/7 by a dedicated team of individuals in our Network Operations Center? We’re prepared for instant-response in case of an emergency, so you don’t have to. Should an emergency occur, Midco can guarantee full data center power for up to 48 hours past an outage.

All in all, we deliver an unmatched value to our customers seeking data center colocation services – because that’s what our facilities are designed to do.
