Midco: A Business ISP (& More) That’s Here to Stay in Dickinson

Attaining fast, seamless, reliable connectivity can be a challenge for any business, but for small businesses trying to build a customer base online and in a new area, it’s essential. In 2010, Fargo-based Roers, LLC, decided to expand its commercial and residential development, construction, property management and real estate company. They called their new business in Dickinson, ND, Roers West – and knew that connecting with their new neighbors would be a key to their success.

Staying Power

Western North Dakota is my home today and where I grew up. We’ve all seen the massive amount of change in the past several years, largely due to the oil boom. The “black gold” being extracted meant a financial boon for the Peace Garden State, which led to a spike in population – both new residents and temporary workers.

Those with roots in our communities responded with excitement, a bit of apprehension and a renewed commitment to support the local businesses that served the area prior to the boom. As a result, new businesses in towns like Dickinson faced an uphill climb to convince new neighbors that they’re here to stay.

“When you’re an out-of-town company, the community gets skeptical that you’re going to just come in, make your money and leave,” explains Lisa Roers.

Roers witnessed some of the same skepticism directed toward Midco when we announced our intention to invest $14 million in a fiber, cable and phone network to support Dickinson businesses and homes. Roers was confident her new neighbors would soon come around – because she had experienced Midco services as a customer in Fargo.

Challenges Overcome

Existing infrastructure presented another connectivity challenge for fast-growing Dickinson. The town has a beautiful, booming downtown with many successful businesses, but many are located in older brick-walled buildings, sometimes with outdated wiring – making connectivity a challenge.

It has been exciting to see how Midco technicians have been able to overcome obstacles and deliver the speed and reliability our Dickinson business customers need to stay competitive. It’s just one way our local team has shown that we care about our customers and keep our promises.

Listening and Learning

I’ve spent the last two years as a Midco Sales Consultant in the Dickinson market, meeting business owners, like the Roers family, and listening to their needs and demands for their internet provider. I understand they value reliability and having local help when needed. They want to know we are here for them, and that we will provide a quality service. They want a business internet service provider that will live up to its promises.

My Midco colleagues and I take pride exceeding the expectations of our North Dakota customers. I have experience with what businesses expect when choosing their provider. I genuinely want my customers to be happy, so I take the time to figure out exactly what is needed and make sure we achieve those goals.

Walking the Talk

Lisa Roers says she’s seen Midco prove its commitment to Dickinson in other ways, too.

“I like how community-focused Midco is,” adds Roers. “They immediately got involved in our community and demonstrated they are dedicated to this town.”

Midco’s investment in Dickinson means faster internet, event sponsorships, and other types of community involvement, but it also means better local sports coverage on Midco Sports Network® and – more importantly to Roers – a choice of service options.

“We were having some issues. We needed faster internet speeds to be successful. Midco stepped that up a notch for us,” says Roers.

And when she has to contact us for help, Roers says she’s confident everything will get resolved quickly.

“We’re so spoiled. I have a personal contact at Midco. I know if I have a problem, they’ll respond. Midco is very customer-oriented and offers reliable business services,” she says.

I can personally attest how great it feels to take good care of my customers – especially when they’re my neighbors. I’m proud to say that about Roers West and the other Midco customers I serve in and around Dickinson.

And when I visit with potential customers, I can tell Midco has become more accepted by our community members because they know we’re here to stay. It’s really all about finding solutions for their unique connectivity needs – and delivering the reliable service and customer care they can count on. We are committed to Dickinson with our Midco services and to giving back to the community – and we won’t be stopping any time soon.
